Candy Free Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers
Easter is nearly a month away and so it’s time to start shopping!! Because my daughter does not eat much by mouth, her Easter basket will not be candy focused She does love a lollipop for a few licks and some M&Ms, but candy won’t be the main event in her basket. If you’re new here, Addie has a feeding tube , an oral aversion, and short bowel syndrome so eating is tough for us Maybe your child does not have any sort of GI issue, but you want some ideas other than candy.
I shared one of these last year, and it was geared towards kids 1-3 and this year I picked new stuff for kids ages 3-5 I chose books, STEM toys, arts & crafts, outdoor toys, & more!! Full disclosure, Easter is sort of a mini Christmas at our house between the basket from us, from my mom, other family members! You guys can shop by clicking on any image and this post contains affiliate links. By purchasing through our blog, we earn a small commission and this is one of the ways I make an income for my family so I appreciate your support.
While it’s good to build your Easter book collection during this time of year, the books just do not apply as much after the holiday. So I usually give 1 Easter book and then others that are focused on spring or just something I’ve had my eye on.
It’s Not Easy Being a Bunny is not an Easter but rather a bunny book about P.J. who wants to be somebody else. The story is about his journey to figure out where he belongs. It’s a Dr. Seuss beginner book which is a great book to read to your toddler but also good for when your little one is learning to read as the pictures are simple and support the words, and the text is simple. I love a lot of beginner books, but especially Dr. Seuss ABC & 123.
Some Bugs rhyming text describes the qualities of numerous insects, accompanied by gorgeous illustrations. A colorful index at the back shows each type of bug, along with its name. The book has a sense of celebration, of appreciation and wonder for the bugs, making them seem special and interesting instead of icky and gross.
Dragon Loves Tacos This is a book we are just loving right now and it’s just silly. You can lure a bunch of dragons to your party by serving buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa . . . you are in trouble.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. STEM toys focus more on critical thinking skills, provide more open ended play, and creativity.
Lego Movie Duplo Set The LEGO MOVIE 2 trailer suggests that the visitors from Duplo planet are destructive, evil creatures, but the figures you build from this 53-piece set (10895) are awfully cute. The Duplo bricks are much larger than standard LEGO bricks, because they’re designed for very young LEGO builders (ages 1½ to 5). I also love this Duplo Truck and Excavator set, My Family Home, & Playground Set.
Marble Run Set Stimulate your kids’ creative problem solving skills as they figure how to assemble the pieces to form their own marble run build. The process of putting the pieces together hone in many important aspects like spatial awareness, imagination, motor skills, deep interest in science, engineering and technology subjects and patience.

One of the other things we love to give as a gift, is an experience. Movie tickets, swim lessons, gift certificate to Sesame Place. Experiencing can have more lasting memories, or if it’s something like swim lessons it’s a gift that keeps giving week after week.
